TRAVEL TIP | British Airways has a ‘secret Champagne’ on offer at London’s Heathrow Airport, but only if you know where to look and who to ask.

To find it, you’ll need to flying with BA or another Oneworld airline from Terminal 5 in business class, or in premium economy or economy with a Oneworld Sapphire (Qantas Gold) frequent flyer card up your sleeve.

Then, make your way to BA’s Galleries South lounge after clearing security. Conveniently, that’s the business class lounge closest to the ‘fast track’ facility at Terminal 5.

Once inside, make a sharp left, wander over to this part of the bar…

… and keep your eyes peeled for hospitality staff in stripy uniforms (not those dressed in BA attire).

They’re often busy re-stocking the bar or cleaning up glasses left by previous guests, but if you ask nicely and with a smile, they’ll fetch you a glass of Taittinger NV from their cellar out the back when they have a spare moment:

You’ll not find the Champagne among the regular self-serve line-up – it’s purely by ‘request only’ in the Galleries South lounge for those who know it’s there.

But of course, if you’re flying in first class or are a Platinum-grade frequent flyer, you’ll find bubbles more readily available in the Galleries First and Concorde Room lounges nearby.
