Virgin Australia expands codeshares with Delta Air Lines
Virgin Australia is expanding its codeshare arrangements with Delta Air Lines within the United States to cover three new destinations from Los Angeles – Nashville, Kansas City and Raleigh/Durham.
Flights between Los Angeles and Nashville will operate daily, Los Angeles to Kansas City services will run twice a day and 10 flights per week will be available on the Los Angeles to Raleigh/Durham route.
Launched in 2011, Virgin Australia’s tie-up with Delta now allows Australian travellers to book flights to over 245 North and Central American destinations on a single airline ticket – over half of the roughly 450 destinations on Virgin’s world map.
Virgin Australia flies to Los Angeles from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne to Los Angeles, while Delta has its own flights between Sydney and LA on which Virgin Australia codeshares.
Onwards from Los Angeles, passengers can connect with both Delta and Virgin America, earning Velocity points and status credits whether travelling on a VA, DL or VX flight number.
However, come October 26 2014, Melbourne residents will need to connect via Sydney or Brisbane to reach the States, with Virgin Australia axing direct flights between the Victorian Capital and Los Angeles in favour of daily flights from Brisbane.
