Fiji Airways is now a full member of the Oneworld airline alliance, unlocking a wealth of benefits for travellers – especially frequent flyers – across the entire Oneworld group.

In tandem with taking a seat at the Oneworld table, Fiji Airways has also officially adopted the AAdvantage loyalty program of American Airlines as as its own frequent flyer scheme.

Although Fiji Airways has held limited Oneworld Connect partner status since 2018, this ‘membership lite’ mode led to inconsistency and confusion over status benefits ranging from lounge access and an extra baggage allowance to earning points and status credits, and redeeming those points on reward flights.

As of 1 April 2025, that all changes. Every status-holder on every Oneworld airline can expect the same benefits when flying on Fiji Airways as on any other Oneworld member.

One of the biggest wins will be for Sydney and Melbourne passengers on Fiji Airways who hold Qantas Platinum status and an FJ boarding pass: they’ll finally be admitted into the Qantas First Lounge.

Oneworld says that as a full member airline, Fiji Airways will provide Oneworld frequent flyers “with a full suite of oneworld benefits including earning and redeeming miles, earning status points, priority check-in and boarding and lounge access.”

From its hub at Nadi International Airport, Fiji Airways serves 25 destinations in 14 countries and territories globally, including Oneworld hubs in Hong Kong (Cathay Pacific), Tokyo (Japan Airlines), Sydney (Qantas) and Dallas-Fort Worth (American Airlines).

Oneworld CEO Nat Pieper welcomed Fiji Airways’ membership as “an important strategic step for our alliance as we connect even more people, places and experiences than ever before.”

Next on the membership list is Oman Air, which joins on 30 June 2025, with Hawaiian Airlines expected to follow in 2026, while Taiwan’s Starlux has been tipped as a future Oneworld member.
