Hyatt Gold Passport: instant Platinum status, Diamond fast track
Members of Hyatt Gold Passport can boost themselves to Platinum status instantaneously and then take the speedy route to a top-tier Diamond card under the chain’s latest promotion.
It’s done by emailing goldpassport@hyatt.com or calling Hyatt on 131 234 and requesting the ‘Elite Tier Offer’ by name.
(If you’re not already an HGP member, head to the Hyatt website and join the program for free before making contact.)
You’ll then be upgraded to Platinum status for 60 days, granting immediate benefits including priority check-in and late check-out, free hotel room upgrades, free in-room Internet access, a dedicated customer service line and 15% more Gold Passport points on your stays.
Spend just six nights in any of Hyatt’s hotels during that 60-day period and Platinum status is then yours to keep until February 2017, bypassing the usual requirement of 15 nights or five stays in one membership year.
Moving from Hyatt Platinum to Diamond
Doubling the requirement for Platinum, spend 12 nights with Hyatt during that same 60-day window and you’ll be promptly elevated to Diamond status – also through February 2017 – normally only offered after 50 nights or 25 stays in a year.

At the top of the pecking order, Hyatt Diamond guests pocket 30% more Gold Passport points over base-level members, receive four free confirmed suite upgrades each year and enjoy year-round room upgrades to the best room below a suite on all other stays (as available).
Also on the list: guaranteed access to Hyatt’s Club lounges and free breakfast regardless of the room type booked or received, two single-use United Club airport lounge passes and a ‘bonus amenity’ during every Hyatt stay.
A Hyatt spokesperson confirmed the deal to Australian Business Traveller, highlighting also that this isn’t a ‘status match’, rather, a promotion available at the request of any Hyatt Gold Passport member, even if they don’t have a shiny hotel loyalty card with another chain.
Current Platinum-grade members can also register for the Diamond fast track, and if eligible will be elevated to the higher tier after completing the same 12 nights during their promotion window.
Gold Passport cardholders can opt-in for the deal between now and April 30 2016, remembering that the 60-day countdown begins from the date of registration.
