Some may consider it the forgotten child of Australia's lounge network, but Hobart Airport is about to get a little extra love from Qantas – and right on time for valentine's Day, at that.

Qantas is upgrading Hobart's Qantas Club lounge with more seats, more space, a new buffet and – contains yourselves – a sandwich press, putting yummy DIY toasties on the menu.

The Hobart Qantas Club will close on February 9 for a quick make-over, and when it re-opens on February 13 the existing business centre will have been removed to create an open space for extra seating.

However, there'll still be a single Mac desktop (which also runs Windows) and printer on hand.

The refitted lounge will have room for 95 travellers.

But more of the lounge action in 2016 is taking place well north of Bass Strait, with Qantas set to open four lounges at Brisbane in the second half of this year.

That roster includes a redesign and expansion of the Qantas Club and construction of a new Business Lounge for domestic business class travellers and top-tier frequent flyers, which is tipped to follow the lead of Perth’s new Business Lounge (below) but with hints of Queensland in the design.

There'll also be a new invitation-only Chairman's Lounge for VIPs and high-value customers, while at Brisbane's International Terminal, the current first class and business class lounges will merge into a single modern lounge with an expanded footprint.
