Get the Avios advantage with Qatar Airways
Discover five ways to power up your frequent flyer points with Qatar Airways and Avios.
Take a world-leading airline, add a leading global frequent flyer ‘currency’ and you’ve got an unbeatable combination for smoother, smarter travel.
With Qatar Airways now using Avios for its Privilege Club loyalty program, you can unlock so many opportunities to earn and redeem Avios.
Collect Avios on all Qatar Airways flights
Make sure your Qatar Airways Privilege Club membership number is entered into your Qatar Airways booking to earn your full serve of Avios on every flight – you’ll be amazed at how quickly those Avios add up, especially in business class.

(You’ll also be collecting Qpoints, to gain and keep status in Qatar Airways Privilege Club so you can enjoy practical benefits such as lounge access, priority airport check-in and a higher checked luggage allowance.)
Transfer Avios to avoid ‘orphan’ points
You can also earn Avios when travelling on British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus and Vueling – but in the past, you’ve only been able to use those Avios with those same airlines.
This can lead to the sad situation of ‘orphan points’, where you have small or modest amount of frequent flyer points or miles spread across several airlines – but not enough of those points or miles to do anything with.
Thankfully, you can now move Avios between airline loyalty programs, such as from your British Airways Executive Club to Qatar Airways Privilege Club.
With a direct 1:1 ‘exchange rate’, no fees, no minimum transfer amount or minimum balance, this makes it a snap to combine all your Avios in one place – such as your Qatar Airways Privilege Club account – so that every single Avios can be put to good use.

The first step is to link your Avios accounts – head to the Qatar Airways Avios page, log into your Qatar Airways Privilege Club account, then scroll down to click the Link my accounts button.
The all-in-one dashboard of your Qatar Airways Privilege Club account will then display your total Avios balance across both airlines, along with any others that you link.
After that, it’s a simple matter to combine all your Avios into one nominated account.
Earn Avios on Virgin Australia flights soon
Later this year you’ll even be able to earn Avios on Virgin Australia flights, thanks to the new strategic partnership between Qatar Airways and Virgin Australia.

This will make it even easier to steadily grow your Avios balance on domestic Virgin flights, simply by listing your Qatar Airways Privilege Club number against your VA booking.
Each trip will bring that business class upgrade or award flight even closer. And remember, if there aren’t quite enough Avios in your account for that flight, you can select a combination of Cash + Avios as your payment method.
Fly the world’s best business class from Adelaide to Auckland
Most Australians think of Qatar Airways as an airline to take them to all corners of the globe via Qatar Airways’ global network of over 140 destinations.
But for residents of Adelaide, there’s a surprisingly short hop available to New Zealand – and you can make the trip in Qatar Airways’ superb Qsuites business class.

This is because the modern Airbus A350 which darts between Doha and Adelaide continues on to Auckland – then returns to Adelaide and onwards to Doha.
So while a long-haul Qsuite business class flight from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane to London would cost 90,000 Avios as an ‘award’ redemption - which is still excellent value – just 35,000 Avios is required for the luxurious Qsuite experience between Adelaide and Auckland.
